Bringing Madman to life as an action figure is an incredible opportunity to celebrate one of comics’ most distinctive heroes. Through our license with Mike Allred, we are creating a collectible that captures the character’s design, offbeat energy, and timeless comic book style. This project is built for longtime fans who have followed Frank Einstein’s surreal adventures, as well as new collectors discovering Madman for the first time. Our goal is to honor the spirit of the source material while delivering a figure that feels bold, expressive, and worthy of the character’s unique place in independent comics.
Frank Einstein, better known as Madman, is a reanimated hero created by Mike Allred. Once a secret agent named Zane Townsend, Frank was pulled from a car wreck, stitched back together, and brought back to life by eccentric scientists Dr. Flem and Dr. Boiffard. He awakens with no memory of his past, a scarred blue body, superhuman agility, and strange psychic flashes. His new name is a tribute to Frank Sinatra and Albert Einstein. Wearing a bold lightning bolt costume inspired by a half-remembered comic book hero, Madman fights monsters, aliens, robots, and cosmic threats across the retro-futurist streets of Snap City. At its heart, Madman is a surreal superhero adventure about second chances, self-discovery, and finding humanity in the strangest places.

Madman is officially Cleared for Launch and pre-orders are live, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty happening between now and the day he lands in your collection.
One of the reasons BigBadLaunchPad was created was to give collectors a closer look at what happens after a product is announced. With Madman currently in pre-production, we thought this would be a good time to start taking you behind the scenes.
Right now, our team is working through the steps that turn the Madman you have seen in our digital renders into a production action figure. That includes finalizing the sculpt and engineering, reviewing articulation and fit, dialing in paint applications, developing the packaging, and preparing everything for manufacturing.
Mike Allred's artwork has such a distinct look that our goal isn't simply to make an action figure wearing the costume. We want the finished figure to capture the personality, shapes, colors, and energy that make Madman immediately recognizable.
Over the course of this project, we'll be sharing more of that process here. Expect looks at prototypes, development samples, packaging, accessories, production progress, and some of the decisions that happen along the way. This figure is also only the beginning of what we're developing for the World of Madman.

Q. What scale and size is the Madman figure?
A. This figure is built in a 1/12 or 6-inch scale, making it perfectly proportioned to display alongside other major action figure lines in your collection.
Q. Will the final production figure look exactly like the prototype shown?
A. The images shown are of a painted prototype. While we strive to ensure the final factory production matches the prototype as closely as possible, minor adjustments in paint application or joint engineering may occur to improve the final quality and durability of the figure.
Q. Will there be more figures from the Madman series?
A. Yes! BigBadWorkShop will be expanding into the World of Madman universe.
