Product Description
This fantasy coin (or token) is made in Nickel-Silver to emulate a silver coin from The Wheel of Time TM series by Robert Jordan. We have officially licensed with Bandersnatch Inc. to produce the coins that would exist in the world defined by Robert Jordan's fictional works. This is our second entry in the series. These coins were designed here at Shire Post Mint, approved by the Bandersnatch Group, and struck exclusively for us at Osborn Mint in Cincinnati. They are 0.9875" in diameter (about 25mm). The material is Nickel-Silver, an alloy of 65%Cu, 18%Ni and 17%Zn. The coin was designed by Tom Maringer and Donald Upton, with 3d rendering by Mark Weeden. The obverse features the face of Deane Aryman, holding a flame on her open palm, flanked by seven stars and wearing the stole of the Amyrlin Seat, striped with seven colors. The reverse side features the ancient symbol of the Ourobouros, the snake eating it's own tail, used to symbolize eternity. In the center is the Flame of Tar Valon, official symbol of the White Tower and the Amyrlin Seat. For this initial release we have created 100 special handmade collector cards for the coin, such that the coin is pressed into a tightly fitting hole in the heavy card and is visible from both sides. The painting on the front was done by Donald Upton in such a way that the coin forms part of the design when positioned correctly, and shows Deane Aryman in front of the city of TarValon, with the White Tower and the Dragonmount in the distance. The reverse features an aerial view of the city of Tar Valon, and some background information on Deane Aryman in context of the story. The card with coin comes in a 3" x 4" hard plastic top-loader sleeve for protection. The owner may safely remove the card from the sleeve and push the coin out to handle it, then press it back in with finger pressure without damage to the packaging.
