Regal Robot is excited to bring you the latest release in our Archive Collection of replicas scanned from the original artifacts: Kirk Thatcher's Apple Slug Concept Maquette from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™! This edition includes a hand-signed and hand-numbered plaque signed by Kirk Thatcher!
This marks our first-ever signature and sketch editions with legendary creature designer Kirk Thatcher, who designed, sculpted, and painted the original maquette.
Though the design was ultimately unused in the final film, the Apple Slug has become a deep-cut favorite over the years thanks to appearances in The Art of Return of the Jedi, The Best of the Lucasfilm Archives, the famous Smithsonian magazine cover story, and the From Star Wars to Jedi documentary.
Each maquette replica was high-resolution laser scanned from the original artifact and is cast in resin, hand-painted in our New York studio, and displayed on a wood base featuring the glossy slime trail seen on the original maquette. For safe shipping, the arms are removable and magnetically attach in place.
