The adult Pteranodon folds its vast wings as it watches over the nest below. The hungry juveniles push forward, mouths open in desperation. The composition evokes a powerful sense of species-driven unity, delivering the message that this is no place for humans—and that the viewer, too, is seen as prey.
From the razor-sharp beak and prominent cranial crest to the sinewed texture of its back, every detail of the adult is rendered with striking realism.
