A Japanese import by X-Plus! Robby the Robot from the 1956 sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet returns as a PVC/ABS collectible figure. Robby stands 13 5/8" tall with 10 points of articulation and sports a black and white paint scheme. No figure collection for the serious sci-fi collector would be complete without this iconic robot that has become part of pop-culture history!
Identified by his bulky barreled frame, the imposing Robby the Robot is equipped with stout forward-set arms and stocky three-fingered appendages. In The Forbidden Planet, Cruiser C-57D is dispatched to the planet Altair IV, where Commander Adams and his crew are greeted by the mighty Robby the Robot, who leads Commander John J. Adams, Lieutenant Jerry Farman, and Lieutenant “Doc” Ostrow to Dr. Morbius, a philologist attached to a previous expedition which is reduced to Morbius and his nineteen year old daughter, Altaira. In the course of studying Altair IV’s previous populace, a scientifically advanced race called the Krell, Morbius discovers a device called the Plastic Educator, and is ultimately able to create Robby the Robot, programming Robby with the Three Laws of Robotics:
1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2) A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.
