Okay, the idea is that, in the wake of Avengers Disassemble, you have a secondary group of teenagers coming in to replace the disbanded team. Disturbingly enough, four of the youths are patterned after Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Thor, hence: Iron Lad, Patriot, The Asgardian, and last but not least, yes, you guessed it, The Hulkling.
Iron Lad sort of resembles Iron Man but apparently has more in common with Kang the Conqueror as his armor is a mentally-controlled biomechanical device.
Patriot, who has a costume more like Bucky, is the descendant of some original survivor of an extension of the Super-Soldier program during WWII.
The Asgardian, vaguely resembling an elf archer, supposedly has a combined nature equivalent to that of Thor and the Scarlet Witch.
The Hulking, who looks a little like a pumped-up version of Changeling from the Teen Titans, is evidently a green-skinned shapeshifter with possible Kree and/or Skrull origins.
As the storyline unfolds, Captain America and Iron Man show up because they’re curious about their apparent replacements; eventually they catch up to them, ordering them to either produce a note from mom and dad or disband. Meanwhile the Young Avengers are alternately battling villains like Kang and trying to grapple with their teenager/parent difficulties. These events apparently pave the way for the New Avengers.
