The Maestro is the survivor of an alternate reality WWIII, in which the world has been bombed into an uninhabitable wasteland. In the process, pretty much all of the costumed adventurers are killed, except for the Hulk, who of course thrives on the gamma radiation. The surplus gamma increases the Hulk’s strength, but also turns him into an insane tyrant. Accordingly, the Hulk becomes the Maestro, self-styled emperor of a nearly dead world. While all the world’s survivors are trying to rebuild some semblance of life miles beneath the surface, the Maestro builds a mighty city as a defense against the various elements. He invites the survivors into his city, under the condition that they will become slaves, laborers and general sycophants.
The Maestro is especially dangerous not only because of his increased strength, but because of his more or less Banner-equivalent intelligent and the fact that he’s got years and experience under his belt. The Professor Hulk, after being inadvertently drawn into the Maestro’s future, was ultimately forced to use alternative means to dispatch the Maestro.
He’s one of the larger and more impressive of the Marvel Legends figures, and definitely once of the best Hulk incarnations ever done. Overall he’s coarsened with leathery wrinkles, liver spots, ect, showing his advanced age while still retaining all of his muscular mass and power. The Maestro has a thick white beard, but what he’s cultivated below he’s now lost up top; however, you can correct the Maestro’s hair loss with his optional dome-fitted multi-horned helmet. Additionally, Maestro comes with one of the pieces to assemble the giant Apocalypse.
