Thunderwing serves the Decepticon cause in his aerial espionage capacity. Thunderwing is characterized as a personification of way of the Decepticon. Thunderwing embraced the experimental Pretender process, finalizing the procedure and serving as his own guinea pig; upon merging with his symbiotic Pretender shell Thunderwing was imbued with enough power to battle the Autobots and his fellow Decepticons simultaneously, although the process cost him his sanity.
