The Transformers United WFC Darkside Optimus Prime & Darkside Megatron Set: Tokyo Toy Show 2011 is presented in window box packaging.
Darkside Optimus Prime features a color scheme similar to RID Scourge or Classics Nemesis Prime. He converts from an armored truck into a robot mode abstractly reminiscent of Prime’s mainstream Gen 1 counterpart; Prime’s blaster can either be situated atop the roof of the vehicle, mounted along either forearm, or converted into a handheld gun. Originating as an obscure archivist, Optimus was stirred from his relative torpor by the gladiatorial rise of Megatron. Darkside Optimus Prime is characterized as a manifestation of the dark aspect of the mainstream Prime’s mind.
Colored in black, silver and purple, Megatron converts from a sleek, menacing, almost manta-like tank into an intricately-wrought robot with a massive fusion cannon which can be mounted to either forearm. Megatron ascended to power in the gladiatorial pits of Cybertron, where he voiced contempt for Cybertron’s established social structure. Here he began to amass a mixture of disillusioned, credulous, and like-minded followers. Soon after, Megatron assembled his Decepticon warriors, unleashing them against a planet largely unprepared for an organized uprising. Darkside Megatron is characterized as a chaotic, individual manifestation of Megatron’s shadow.
