Extremely reminiscent of his equally deranged and beleaguered Beast Wars counterpart, Japanese Transformers Animated: TA37 Waspinator transforms from a large wasp with working translucent pink wings into a four-armed, well-articulated robot mode with equally accessible wings. Waspinator was initially Wasp, a contemporary of Bumblebee during the latter’s flashback recollections of Autobot Boot Camp. Eagerly ridiculing his fellow cadets Bumblebee and Bulkhead, Wasp quickly became a comrade of Ironhide and a favorite of drill sergeant Sentinel Minor. However, after being mistakenly branded a traitor by Bumblebee, the incarcerated Wasp succumbed to madness and fixed on Bumblebee as the instrument of his destruction. Years later, escaping Autobot custody, Wasp encountered the equally disgruntled Blackarachnia, and was transformed into the larger, partially organic Waspinator.
