D-05 Classics Octane features a weathered-looking color scheme noticeably different than that of the Universe Deluxe Tankor. Octane is equipped with a rifle and a Melee Blade accessory that somewhat resembles the outlandishly monstrous Sword of Plundarr wielded by Ratilla and Mumm-Ra. Octane’s vehicle modes include a fuel truck and a cargo plane. His scowling, vaguely vulpine features are dimly aglow with shifty red eyes. Octane is primarily driven by greed. He’s characterized as a creepy, opportunistic bully, the type to glean guffawing laughter from crashes and derive enjoyment from the pains of his fuel-deprived Decepticon cohorts. In the episode “Thief in the Night”, Octane discovered Trypticon, subsequent to the latter’s defeat at the hands of Metroplex, damaged but intact in the ocean. Perceiving his opportunity, Octane restored Trypticon by converting the oil holdings of Carbombya into energon. Octane attempted to establish Carbombya as a staging ground, in the hopes of utilizing Trypticon to usurp Galvatron.
