Astrotrain is extensively articulated; the prototype photos seem to indicate a color scheme similar to the original Classics Astrotrain, although the upper right-hand panel depicts the cartoon Astrotrain’s grey and purple color scheme. His Triple Changer function allows him to configure from train to shuttle to robot, his complex design providing a degree of heightened strength. Equipped with a massive ionic displacer rifle, Astrotrain serves the Decepticon cause in his capacity as Military Transport. Astrotrain had a sterner, slightly more sinister presence than many of his fellow Decepticons, although he was not above the occasional ill-conceived scheme such as the time he declared his own faction and reprogrammed a number of subway trains to serve as his militia. In his Classics profile, Astrotrain is emphasized as a transport vehicle, although he greatly prefers actual combat to this default function.
