Jazz is equipped with a photon rifle, missiles, and a missile launcher. Jazz serves the function of Special Operations Agent. He was part of Prime’s original crew, a loyal comrade, a varying wellspring of positive morale, and an all around well-balanced warrior. Also, voiced by Scatman Crothers, Jazz shared a voice with Hong Kong Phooey, and that’s just cool. In the course of Transformers: The Movie, Jazz was manning one of the Cybetronian moons when Unicron arrived with the intention of turning the moon into an all-you-can-eat buffet. Luckily, though, Jazz and a few other Autobots were rescued before they could be dropped into Unicron’s digestive foundry.
