The T-1000 is dressed in its default police uniform, his arm reconfigured into a large sleek liquid metal blade. Initially failing to eliminate Resistance leader John Connor prior to conception, Skynet modifies its plan by sending the T-1000, an advanced prototype, into the past to track and kill the teenage John Connor. The mimetic metal alloy construction enables it to easily mimic any ordinary human, and enables it to sustain immense damage, however the T-1000 is only capable of molding itself into rudimentary weapons such as bludgeons and blades. For the bulk of the movie the T-1000 retains its policeman default as a means of gaining the trust of regular humans, extrapolating information, and anonymously touring the ruin left in the wake of each cataclysmic battle. In the final battle in the steel mill, the T-800 is thoroughly pulverized by the T-1000, enabling the T-1000 to stalk Sarah and John Connor. Sarah succeeds in battering the T-1000 with a succession of shotgun rounds forcing the 1000 onto the precipice of a cauldron of molten steel, however she expends her rounds at the crucial moment. Battered and maimed, the T-800 delivers the final explosive round which sends the T-1000 into disorder and hurtles the 1000 into the molten steel.
