Measuring approximately 13” H x 12” W x 15” D, the ‘There Will Be No Bargain’: Luke vs. the Rancor Diorama is individually painted and finished. The diorama encompasses a portion of the slavering Rancor with a miniature black-clad Luke Skywalker dangled precariously above the beast’s tooth-filled jaws. Following Leia’s attempt, disguised as the Ubese bounty hunter Boushh, to infiltrate Jabba’s palace and rescue the carbonite-frozen Han Solo, Luke Skywalker boldly entered the Hutt’s squalid court. Though Skywalker’s Jedi mind trick easily bamboozled the servile Bib Fortuna, Jabba, striking his muddled majordomo with a glancing blow, resisted the mind trick with contemptuous ease. Skywalker briefly exchanged glances with the captive slave girl Leia, although the princess had no opportunity to warn the young Jedi of the ghastly fate that awaited him beneath the court’s trapdoor. Laughing obscenely, Jabba activated the trapdoor, relocating Skywalker to the gore-strewn pit of the Rancor. A large portcullis was automatically raised to herd the Rancor into the pit’s roughhewn confines. An unfortunate Gamorrean guard, having tumbled into the pit along with Skywalker, was quickly gobbled up. Seized by the Rancor’s clawed grasp, the quick-thinking Skywalker wedged a large bone longwise between the monster’s jaws. Ultimately Skywalker defeated by the Rancor by leading the monster back through the portcullis tunnel, hurling a rock at the tunnel’s control console and causing the heavy portcullis to collapse atop the Rancor.
