The Ambush on Hoth Diorama measures approximately 18” H (457.2mm) x 19” W (482.6mm) x 18” L (457.2mm). The diorama is hand cast in high quality polystone, hand-finished and hand painted. Mounted atop a rearing Tauntaun, Luke Skywalker, clad in heavy cold weather gear, is poised atop a jagged snow dune. At the base of the slope, a Sasquatch-sized Wampa Snow Beast, grasping the Tauntaun by neck, is poised for the kill. Luke Skywalker is performing reconnaissance on behalf of the Rebel installation on Hoth when he is abruptly waylaid by the Wampa Snow Beast. Overwhelmed by the beast’s ferocity, pummeled by the beast’s shovel-like paw, Skywalker is rendered unconscious and is dragged through the hollowing frozen wastes to the cave lair of the Wampa. Luke is strung upside down from a cluster of stalactites, with his lightsaber discarded and out of reach. As Skywalker detects the warbling feeding sounds of the Wampa echoing from an adjacent passage, he calls upon the power of the Force and manages to levitate the lightsaber into his grasp. Producing the blade, he manages to cut himself free only moments before the bloodthirsty Wampa attacks.
