The Night of the Living Dead Mego-Style Figures Series 01: Ben and The Graveyard Zombie are the first two figures in a series. They feature fabric costumes, rotocast bodies, and MEGO-style blister card packaging.
Ben is clad in a white shirt and black pants, and his facial likeness is eerily accurate. Ben finds his way to the same seemingly abandoned farmhouse as the shell-shocked Barbra; Ben’s efforts to get through to Barbra are only minimally rewarded. As Ben begins to attempt to fortify the house, it becomes evident that there were others barricaded in the basement, a group of survivors including Tom and Judy, and Helen and Harry Cooper along with their wounded daughter Karen.
The Graveyard Zombie is clad in a rumpled black suit, and bears a palsied expression with a ghastly ashen complexion. The Graveyard Zombie emerges as Barbra and her creepy brother Johnny are visiting the gravesite of their father. The Graveyard Zombie is not initially perceived to be an undead creature, but rather as some type of lunatic. The Graveyard Zombie launches a staggering lunge, attacking Barbra. Johnny clumsily attempts to come to Barbra’s aid, but is pummeled backwards and crowned by a tombstone. The horrified Barbra runs towards Johnny’s car, climbing in and ultimately driving it into a tree.
