A shell-hocked soldier ultimately driven to disillusion and depravity, Elliot Spenser
seeks and solves the Lamentation Configuration, and is consumed by Hell, where he is hideously tortured and transformed to the Cenobite. Atypically portrayed as a leader of other Cenobites, he receives the lion’s share of the dialogue. Retaining some miniscule vestige of his humanity, he is, at times, reasonable and open to negotiation. In the original movie he is incensed to learn that Frank has escaped from hell and is attempting to assume the identity of his brother with the assistance of the latter’s unfaithful wife Julia. After solving the Configuration, Frank’s niece Kirsty escapes damnation by leading Pinhead, Butterball, Chatterer and Female Cenobite to Frank, the latter having stolen his brother’s entire suit of skin.
