Captain America: Originally deemed unfit for service, Steve Rogers volunteers for the experimental Super Soldier Serum and is reconstituted into Captain America, a master tactician and one of the most skilled physical combatants in the Marvel universe. Captain America’s nearly indestructible shield is a freak occurrence derived from multiple attempts by metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain to fuse Wakanda-indigenous Vibranium with an experimental alloy.
Hulk: Spawned by gamma radiation, the Hulk possesses superhuman strength which is proportionate to his boundless rage, enabling him to overpower initially stronger adversaries such as the Abomination. Originally, the Hulk is manipulated by Loki and set against Thor, although ultimately the Hulk allies with Thor, Iron Man, the Wasp and Ant-Man to defeat Loki.
Thor: Thor is equipped with Mjolnir. Already a champion of Asgard, Thor serves as a defender of Midgard as well. Thor becomes a founding member of the Avengers, battling against Earth-based super villains. In the hopes of adding humility to Thor’s otherwise virtuous character, Odin partners Thor with Donald Blake, the former’s human alter ego.
