Originally a scientist from the planet Xudar, Tomar-Re becomes of the more renowned Green Lanterns. A member of the Honor Guard, he trains new recruits. When Hal Jordan is transported to Oa, Tomar-Re is cordial and patient, explaining Jordan’s significance as the new Green Lantern of Sector 2814. Tomar-Re later assists Kilowog and Sinestro in rescuing the exhausted Jordan after the final battle with Parallax.
