A Toydarian life form, Watto originates as an Ossiki Confederacy soldier, however subsequent injuries cause him to journey to Tatooine, where he learns to trade with the Jawas. He eventually establishes Watto’s Shop in Mos Espa, and becomes a slave-owner, acquiring the young Anakin Skywalker. He enters Anakin in a handful of podraces, and eventually loses him (Anakin) to Qui-Gon Jinn, after betting against Anakin in the Boonta Eve Classic.
