Clad in his grim black regalia with distinctive skull-face helmet, the combat-ready Darth Vader is situated atop a red-illuminated section of steps designed to resemble Cloud City’s carbonite freezing facility. Sustained by a mechanized life support system and prosthetics, the battered and disfigured Sith Lord Darth Vader is both the apprentice and enforcer of Emperor Palpatine. Luring the ill-prepared Luke Skywalker to Bespin, Vader effortlessly maimed and defeated his opponent. In the bowels of Cloud City, as the battered Skywalker hovered precariously on the verge of an airshaft, Vader delivered his final demoralizing blow by revealing that he, in fact, was Skywalker’s father. Sensing a moment of weakness, Vader extended his hand, tempting Skywalker with the proposition of overthrowing the Emperor and ruling the galaxy as father and son.
