Reptile is a Saurian life form ultimately loyal to Shao Khan. Originally a secret character who emerges from hiding to attack player characters, Reptile is later characterized as a bodyguard of Shang Tsung, and a subordinate who carries out Shao Khan’s secret missions in the hopes that Khan will eventually release the enslaved Saurian race. A skilled warrior, Reptile is capable of feats such as Acid Spit, the Power Slide and the Chameleon maneuver; his Fatalities include moves such as the Tasty Meal, the Extra Meal, and the Invisible Chomp.
Jax was introduced as a Special Forces operative dispatched to rescue Sonya and capture Kano. In his subsequent appearance, as one among a handful of champions aligned to prevent Shao Khan’s conquest of Earth, Jax was outfitted with cybernetic arm implants, and later, along with Sonya, founded the Outer World Investigation Agency (OIA) as a means of mapping outlying realms. In the 2011 Mortal Kombat, Jax’s dual dismemberment by Ermac necessitates complete cybernetic prosthetics rather than implants. Jax features a number of distinctive signature attacks such as the Ground Pound, the “Gotcha” Grab, and the Dash Punch.
