The semi-sentient Teletraan-1 is the coordinating power behind the Ark, linked to the Sky Spy responsible for the reformatted modes assumed by the reactivated Autobots and Decepticons in the year 1984. Realizing that the cartoon would be no fun at all without a cast of villains, Teletraan-1 in fact revived the Decepticons first, enabling Megatron and his warriors to vacate the Ark prior to the reactivation of the Autobots. Teletraan-1 later became the hub of the Autobot headquarters. The computer was threatened with destruction in the episode “Heavy Metal War”, in which Megatron assimilated the power chip rectifiers of several of his Decepticon subordinates and challenged Optimus Prime to single combat; fearing that Teletraan-1 would reveal his scheme, Megatron covertly dispatched the Constructicons to deactivate the computer, although Teletraan countered the move by unleashing the Dinobots.
