The Enforcement Droid 209 was an ultimate abortive attempt by OCP to generate automated replacements for the uncooperative Detroit police force. The ED-209 was constructed with a number of bugs and cheap materials, sometimes with the intention of later exploiting the contractual end of the maintenance problem. But, unfortunately, when they brought an ED-209 upstairs to demonstrate the robot’s prowess to the corporate board, the ED-209 inadvertently drummed one of the OCP executives with 20mm machinegun fire until the exec looked like a roast beef sandwich gone horribly wrong.
With its machinegun and twin-launcher firepower, the ED-209 was a formidable opponent, unless of course you were to lead one of them on a chase down a staircase. Also, the ED’s aren’t much of a match for the Cobra Assault Cannon. In Robocop 2, after another police strike, the ED made sort of a comical peripheral appearance, as the crime populace figured out ways to exploit all the ED’s faults and glitches.
Anyway, this looks to be the supreme version of the ED, massive and loaded with 100% ED209 ferocity. In a conventional confrontation, with all of the ED’s handicaps removed from the equation, any common criminal would be street pizza in 5 seconds. So it’s probably a good idea to keep an ED around. The next best thing to a brand-new 6000 SUX.
