Replacing his original badge-shaped shield, Captain America’s nearly indestructible circular shield is a freak occurrence derived from multiple attempts by metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain to fuse Wakanda-indigenous Vibranium with an experimental alloy.
World War Hulk: Sporting a diadem and clad in gladiatorial attire, World War Hulk is equipped with a shield, a double-bladed axe, and a sword in back-mounted scabbard. Banished from the Earth, the Hulk claims kingship by usurping the throne of Sakaar from the tyrannical Red King. Alongside his queen, Caiera the Oldstrong, King Hulk brings comparative order to Sakaar. Unfortunately, the vessel used to transport Hulk to Sakaar explodes, killing Caiera and destroying Sakaar, prompting the Hulk to gather his allies, the Warbound, and to return to Earth with the intention of declaring war on the entire planet and wholly annihilating the Illuminati.
Incredible Hulk: Hounded by the military, Bruce Banner resurfaces as an anonymous employee of a bottling factory in Rio de Janeiro. However, a tiny drop of his blood taints an outgoing bottle, enabling Thunderbolt Ross to acquire his location. Emil Blonsky, a mercenary hired by Ross, volunteers to test Ross’ gamma-saturated super-soldier serum, becoming the Abomination, a monster which can only be stopped by the Hulk. The Hulk is later recruited as a member of the Avengers, and is unleashed against the onslaught of Chitauri invaders summoned by Loki.
Beast: The Beast’s original mutation provides him with enhanced strength, reflexes, and athletic prowess. He later uses his genius intellect in an attempt to reverse his simian characteristics, however the experiment backfires and his mutations are drastically intensified to include blue fur and razor-sharp teeth and claws. A subsequent mutation creates a feline restructure, increasing his already superhuman agility and reflexes, and provides him with regenerative ability.
Spider-Man Unlimited: Bitten by a radioactive super-spider, the mainstream Spider-Man possesses enhanced strength, speed and reflexes, and a precognitive spider-sense that allows him to detect the presence of any non-Symbiote adversary. Unlimited Spider-Man is also bitten by a super-spider, and additionally wears a modified costume, utilizing Reed Richards’ nanotechnology, which provides him (Spider-Man) with stealth capability and sonic weaponry.
Hercules: Hercules is the Marvel interpretation of the actual mythological character. Persevering against a gauntlet of mythological trials, he slowly establishes himself as a mainstream superhero. The Avengers serve as his primary affinity. Hercules possesses comparatively immortality and Hulk-caliber physical strength. His powers generally outclass those of most garden variety super villains, however his arrogance has occasionally served him as a notable vulnerability, and he has been outnumbered or even overpowered from time to time.
Angel: One of the original members of the X-Men, the Angel’s mutant wings correspond with a secondary tier of heightened attributes such as hollow bones and highly enhanced vision. The Angel inherits an ore masculine presence after Apocalypse gave him the ‘Death’ treatment, providing the Angel with ashen-blue skin turning his skin and metallic wings which discharge feather blade projectiles. In the aftermath of this metamorphosis he becomes Archangel a mixture of his original and Apocalypse-generated identities.
Nighthawk is dressed in a dark blue uniform with a joined mask and a red cape sculptured to resembled furled wings. Roughly based upon Batman, the original Nighthawk is a member of the Squadron Sinister quartet. Nighthawk possesses superior reflexes and extensively honed fighting prowess, and sometimes uses potions to supplement his abilities. It is later revealed that the established version of Nighthawk is an evil replica of the Nighthawk belonging to Squadron Supreme.
Nova: Nova is dressed in an armored blue and gold uniform, a red starburst serving as the front piece of his narrow helmet. This armor provides life support functions, in cadence with the heightened strength, reflexes, damage-resistance and flight capability awarded to Richard Rider as a member of the Nova Corps. AA high school student, Rider is selected by Rhomann Dey, the last remaining Nova Centurion of the planet Xandar’s Nova Corpse.
Puck: An adventurer who inadvertently releases Black Raazer from the Black Blade of Baghdad, Puck forfeits his full-sized stature to reimprison the evil sorcerer. Puck’s diminutive stature is complimented by his acrobatic and gymnastic abilities; a skilled hand-to-hand combatant and martial artist, Puck delivers his most effective attack in the form of his trademark cartwheel, a projectile maneuver which enables him to topple larger adversaries.
