R5-D4: R5-D4 is produced during the closing stages of the malfunction-laden Industrial Automaton R5 line. R5-D4 is swapped among myriad owners, steadily becoming more and more sullen and envious of other droids with easier existences. He is eventually commandeered by the Jawas, but is consoled by a Power Droid who tells R5-D4 that if he remains cooperative he will likely be purchased by someone more accommodating and appreciative than the likes of the Jawas. Unfortunately, R2-D2 is collected by the Jawas and is forced to sabotage R5-D4 to make certain that he (R2) finds his way to a new owner and gains access to Obi-Wan Kenobi. When the Jawas come around, Owen Lars originally chooses R5-D4, but becomes angry when R5 immediately malfunctions and selects the eager R2-D2 instead.
Death Star Droid: The RA-7 protocol droid is manufactured by Arakyd Industries for the Empire, and is generally placed in the company of Imperial dignitaries and officers. The RA-7’s ominous insectoid features differentiate him from a standard 3PO-series robot; similarly, the 3PO’s placating demeanor is absent from the RA-7. The RA-7 continuously records and transmits intelligence to the Imperial Security Bureau. To allay concerns that Grand Moff Tarkin might ultimately use the Death Star to overthrow the Empire, the bureau stations a multitude of RA-7 protocols aboard the Death Star, earning them the nickname ‘Death Star Droids’.
Power Droid: A Power Droid is a shambling box-shaped contraption, which serves as a mobile portable to all machinery and vehicles in the course of its route. The Power Droids themselves are thoroughly unimpressive in description, and are often slopped with oil and grease. In Episode IV, Power Droids, in both bipedal and quadrupedal modes, occupied the background of the Sandcrawlers which had captured fugitive droids R2-D2 and C-3PO. Other Power Droids reside in the Echo Base on Hoth, where the Rebel Alliance attempts to elude discovery by Imperial Probe Droids.
