Universe Deluxe Wave 03 Sideswipe features a new head sculpt and shares encompassing portions of his mold design with his twin brother, Universe Deluxe Sunstreaker. Bearing a color scheme reminiscent of his Gen 1 incarnation, Sideswipe is a sleek, heavily articulated figure equipped with a gun accessory. Sideswipe’s meticulous combat skills and capacity for underhanded tactics rival those of Sunstreaker, although Sideswipe’s lust for battle lacks the element of Sunstreaker’s vindictiveness. His courage-powered recklessness occasionally results in damage to himself. Sideswipe’s rocket pack enables him to fly for up to 2 minutes, and he’s capable of firing flares that are visible for 18 miles. In the original cartoon episode, “Masquerade”, Sideswipe was camouflaged to resemble Breakdown as part of an Autobot plan to impersonate the Stunticons.
