The McQuarrie Han Solo is a guy with reddish hair and a close-cropped beard, clad in a garishly colored costume with a fluttering cape. Solo is armed with a blaster pistol and a translucent blue lightsaber. This conceptual version of Solo somewhat stands in contrast to the slouching version of Solo from Episode IV that sneered disdainfully at Luke’s lightsaber lessons and snidely discounted the existence of the Force. More than an ordinary smuggler, the McQuarrie Han Solo looks more like the swashbuckling type; this version might have fared better against Darth Vader during the betrayal at Bespin.
