Easily one of the best Autobots in the Classics line, this version of Jetfire is seemingly based on his Stormbringer appearance. Apart from his ordinary jet mode, he has a super-vehicle mode, in which the overhead gun pylons and wing cannons are added. Similarly, Jetfire has a standard robot mode with a humanlike face and his handheld double-barreled rifle serving as his weapon, and a super-robot mode, a little closer to the original Robotech template, complete with gun-mounted faceplate helmet, forearm-mounted projectile cannons and shoulder-flipping gun pylons.
Like the original cartoon, the Dreamwave continuity gave Jetfire a friendship history with Starscream---this being one of the factors that contributed to Jetfire’s early reticence in choosing between the Decepticons and Autobot factions. Though Jetfire did eventually choose the Autobots, he was treated a little like the resident ugly duckling for a while. In the case of Grimlock, the animosity was much more pronounced, although Grimlock was forced to work alongside Jetfire in order to escape arcane sacrifice at the hands of the Fallen.
