These 3” plastic/die-cast figures are well-detailed, featuring limited articulation and faction-insignia display bases. Galvatron’s depiction corresponds with his animated counterpart. His primary colors are purple, his bulky chestplate emblazoned with the Decepticon insignia. His massive particle cannon is arm-mounted. His pronged headpiece vaguely resembles a crown---a slightly less ostentatious one than the pompous and bejeweled headpiece worn by Starscream.
Galvatron appeared in Transformers: The Movie. After Optimus Prime stymied the Decepticon invasion at Autobot city, pulverizing Megatron in the process, the battered Decepticon leader was carried aboard Astrotrain by Soundwave. Later, during the return trip to Cybertron, Astrotrain expressed his inability to transport his present cargo the full distance. Starscream seized the opportunity to toss Megatron and a few other wounded Decepticons into space. But Megatron and the few other Decepticons were intercepted by Unicron. The charismatic Chaos Bringer offered to reformat Megatron---provided that Megatron agreed to seek out the current possessor of the Matrix, poor Ultra Magnus, and destroy him. Megatron was upgraded to Galvatron, granted three transformation modes and reinforced with a chemically-powered cannon. Unsurprisingly, the first thing Galvatron did was return to Cybertron and Transformer Starscream into a cigarette ash.
