These 3” plastic/die-cast figures are well-detailed, featuring limited articulation and faction-insignia display bases. Optimus Prime’s depiction corresponds with his Gen 1 animated counterpart. Optimus is broad and bulky, his shoulder marked with the Autobot insignia. His massive cannon is oversized, shoulder-butted with its thick silver barrel towering. Being the battle-damaged version, Prime’s body is lightly dirtied and scored with blast-burns.
One of the best characters ever conceived, Prime is driven by compassion and protectiveness of virtually all species. The Gen 1 Prime was burdened by the task of preserving war-ravaged Cybertron, and then later forced to shoulder the welfare of Earth when the Autobot/Decepticon wear spilled beyond Cybertron. Accordingly, Prime’s Classics profile portrays him as an archetypal hero, a reluctant warrior and an ultimate countermeasure to Megatron’s destructive appetites. Cannily, Prime is described as the personification of justice and the measuring stick of all other heroes.
