This new boxed set features Optimus Prime as the familiar flat-nosed red semi cab, and Megatron in Green Tank mode. Both figures are 8" 'Deluxe' sized and they are completely different from the Voyager class Optimus and Megatron. These are slightly modernized versions of their original forms, and fit extremely well into the 'Classics' theme. Images will be posted after Botcon in early October. A 22 minute DVD is also included that explains the Transformers story and is narrated by Optimus Prime.
Rather than the War Within Prime or the Voyager-class Prime, this Gen 1 style version of Prime is aesthetically similar to and nearly as well articulated as the fabled Masterpiece Prime. His flat-nosed truck mode inherits his heavy rifle as a turret gun mounted behind the wall of the cab. The robot mode is just one truly pleasurable trip down memory lane, square-outlined, the face of the truck serving as the chest plate, a look on par with the same Prime that pounded Megatron into canned tuna in Transformers: The Movie.
This version of Megatron is somewhat similar to the Titanium version---a version that had a slight War Within look but was linked to Cobra Commander in the character description. In vehicle mode Megatron is a bulky Cybertronian-looking tank, equipped with both the central gun and a small gun mounted top right along the turret. His robot mode is broad and durable, the primary gun serving as an arm-mounted gun and the lesser weapon serving as a side arm. Megatron’s face is silver, his army-green helmet shaped somewhat in the semblance of his early version.
