Predaking was a behemoth even among other combiners, generated by the outsize dimensions of the individual Predacons. Despite the uniform colors, the Predacons each retained their distinctiveness in combined mode. The Predaking entity itself was most strongly identified by the chest-mounted lion’s head of Razorclaw and the overlapping gold-scalloped wings of Divebomb. He carried Razorclaw’s golden sword and wore Razorclaw’s telescoping gun mounted along the tail plate shield armoring the Divebomb appendage. Fists were spike-studded, and the feet were mobile cannon platforms.
Predaking’s bio describes him as being the perfect fighting machine, driven purely by savage instinct and maintaining surprising agility and fluidity even despite his gargantuan size. In Transformers: The Ultimate guide, Predaking is described as being one of the most efficient combiners due to an overall mentality shared by the Predacons, which is not always the case with other combiners, such as the prototype combiner Devastator. In the Dreamwave continuity, the Predacons are described as fallen warlords, removed from Cybertron and overpowered by their animalistic personalities. In that continuity, Megatron reemerges after Starscream’s betrayal, and he recruits the Predacons in the interest of regaining his leadership. Defeating Razorclaw in combat, Megatron bends the Predacons to his will and engineers their ability to combine. Predaking’s inexorable savagery was used as an instrument of conquest, enabling Megatron to fight his way back through, gaining staging grounds and reassembling his lieutenants.
