Several of the Titanium figures seem to correspond with the Dreamwave concepts of the Gen 1 characters, which means that Grimlock could be depicted either in his Dynobot form---reasonably similar to the classic version in robot mode but a turret-bubble tank mode---or else in the familiar Dinobot form that he adopted later.
In the Dreamwave continuity, Grimlock originated as a Decepticon recruited from among the gladiator pits by Megatron. A consummate warrior and strategist, he was much more intelligent than his cartoon counterpart, though this generally wasn’t reflected in his simplistic speech pattern. Long prior to the destruction of Sentinel Prime, Grimlock became disgusted with Megatron and joined on with the Autobots. Grimlock held a certain level of contempt for Sentinel Prime, and then Optimus Prime---although his opinion was at least somewhat modified in regards to Optimus. During The Dark Ages, The Fallen escaped imprisonment and returned to Cybertron and selected Grimlock as one of several Transformer components needed to perform some bizarre incantation. During this time, Grimlock was grudgingly forced to ally with Jetfire, another former Decepticon whom he did not trust.
