Galactica was one of twelve Battlestars, apparently activated early on in the Cylon War, and then resurrected and somewhat restored just short of decommission. Ostensibly the vessel had been modified with various stages of upgrade, but since the computer system had not been networked the Cylons were unable to include the Galactica in the wide-scale deactivation of defense systems via the calamitous infiltration program.
Now, aside from numerous flaws in the Galactica itself, there is also the problem of Infiltrators, Cylon Humanoids with complicated biological systems who are nearly 100% convincing even as hot chicks. So, while the regular Cylons (who appear to be even less mobile that 70’s Cylons with the ping-pong eyes) may be extremely easy to identify, the human moles are the ones that do the real damage.
So anyway, here it is, a more streamlined version of the 70’s Galactica, harried both from within and without, the crew hoping like hell they don’t run into Khan and the Reliant.
