The Sandtrooper is poised with a certain level of resignation, armed with his prod-spear, scanning the sand-pitted faces in the eclectic Mos Eisley crowd. His once-white armor is now stained and sun-bleached yellow. He is identified as a Sandtrooper both by the weather-beaten exterior and by the superfluous shoulder decoration.
The Sandtroopers were crash-prepared for the rigors of Tatooine, a sun-blasted desert world, where slugs like Jabba the Hutt usually had enough sense to crawl underground. Sandtroopers wore terrain-specialized armor and were armed with special equipment aside from their standard-issue blasters. By way of travel, they mostly relied upon their Patrol Dewbacks, gigantic green-brown grit-scaled behemoths, the closest thing to reptilian cows. The Sandtroopers had been charged with the task of finding and reacquiring the two renegade droids R2-D2 and C3-P0.
