Jazz was part of Prime’s original crew, a loyal comrade and an all around well balanced warrior. Also, he had one of the most memorable voices of all the Gen 1 Transformers, performed by Scatman Crothers, also known as Hong Kong Phooey, which was very cool. He appeared pretty frequently on the show prior to the movie.
During the movie, Jazz was manning one of the Cybetronian moons when Unicron showed up for the all-you-can-eat buffet. Luckily, though, Jazz and a few other Autobots were rescued before they could be dropped into Unicron’s digestive foundry.
Jazz had a cool look; black and white with an opaque visor. He’s is one of those characters that hasn’t been recycled that many times, although the Alternators version, Meister (the white version), was dead on the money. By all indications, this 3” version of Jazz will be based upon the Gen 1 version.
