Meister is better known as Jazz, Jazz of course being voiced by Scatman Crothers and serving as one of Prime’s top guys. In Transformers the Movie, Jazz, along with Cliffjumper, manned ill-fated Moonbase One. Later, after the siege on Autobot City, Unicron had become more active, venturing much nearer to Cybertron and steadily devouring the Cybetronian moons, which included Moonbase One. Confronted by an enemy the likes of which he had never seen, Jazz radioed a desperate distress call back to Earth, which was faintly intercepted by Blaster, but by that time, Prime was gone and Autobot City was demolished.
Moonbase One was rapidly crunched through Unicron’s planet-mode scolex, and Jazz and Cliffjumper were consumed in the process. Luckily, later, Jazz was among the small group of Autobots liberated from Unicron’s digestive foundry and relocated back to Cybertron after Unicron’s dismemberment.
The Alternator Meister, a Mazda RX-8, is a hardcore Jazz tribute, one of the best Autobots in the whole line so far. He shares the same basic design as Shockblast. Originally, Meister was released in white and in red, and the red once seemed to be a little harder to find. Either way, Meister was reasonably limited as a whole, so he is now being re-released in the cool fishbowl packaging.
