Excellion shows a high level of detail and articulation, and he’s physically larger than some of the other Deluxe-sized characters. His colors are red, orange, with a little blue mainly occurring in semi-translucent capacity. His visor is darkened, giving him a grimmer look than his more credulous Hot Shot counterpart. In vehicle mode, heavily detailed with flame designs, he’s an aerodynamic racer with a hood-mounted blaster. His Cyber Key function enables the blade loaded inside the blaster. Now, with the original Hot Shot upgraded to his Cybertronian Defense Team tank mode, Excellion is more of a stand-alone figure.
His character bio provides him with formidable tech specs and describes him as a brooding schism within the Autobot ranks---apparently the closest thing the Autobots would have to a Black Ops division. Excellion follows his own code and institutes his own tactics, and for these reasons even the Decepticons regard him with grudging respect. Excellion seems to be most commonly utilized in matters of espionage, and has been described as having frequently breeched the Decepticon fortifications.
