Rollbar began as the crusty leader of the Autobot Throttlebots, a down and dirty kind of guy with questionable aerodynamics and a hardcore dedication to the job. He reemerged as the Swindle repaint in the combiner team that formed Bruticus re-release Ruination, and after his initial emergence he got not one but two additional camo revamps; this version of Rollbar got some light play on the RID cartoon, but not to the same to degree that scheming, double-dealing Gen 1 Swindle did. Rollbar also did his Mini Con stint, working alongside Scavenger and Treadbolt.
This latest Alternator Rollbar incarnation is a pale red Autobot repaint of Decepticon Swindle, which sets him apart from his fellow Autobot Hound, who a different head sculpt and slightly different minor specifications. Rollbar’s Jeep Wrangler 4x4 mode is, well, exactly what one might expect from a Jeep Wrangler 4x4 mode. Robot mode is very cool. The Hound/Swindle/Rollbar mode has some of the best articulation in the line, ball sockets with a wide range of movement. His gun is small, pistol-grip. It’s funny, because of the Swindle version, the head sculpt gave Swindle the mischievous under-handed look he needed, but with Rollbar, the same identical head looks perfectly suited to a straight-forward even-tempered Autobot. Weird. Either way, Rollbar makes a very worthy addition to the Autobot ranks, and is definitely worth getting.
