Backstop wasn't always such a nice guy. Originally, he was a savage presence among the indigenous life forms of the Jungle Planet. When he took a step the ground thundered. But after Backstop suffered a sound thrashing at the talons of Scourge, tyrant ruler of the Jungle Planet, he ventured out and gained a new perspective. He decided to slow down, enjoy life a little, although he never relinquished his abiding desire to dethrone his old pal Scourge once and for all.
Like most of the residents of the Jungle Planet, Backstop reminds one of the good ole' Beast Wars. In beast mode, Backstop is a kind of slate-grey prehistoric rhinoceros, a powerful, armor-plated juggernaut with no apparent vulnerability. His Cyber Key function provides a long-range ramming mechanism to his recurved muzzle horns. In robot mode, he retains his siege engine stature, the rhinoceros head becoming his right arm, the three-sectioned tail folding out from his rear flank to become the left arm. His squat robot face is a little reminiscent of Transmetal Rhinox. All and all, this guy stacks up, a perfect enemy for Undermine.
