Sandtroopers are equipped with specialized gear including blaster pistol and prod accessory, and are outfitted with modified armor including cooling systems and oxygen filters. They (Sandtroopers) are specially trained and equipped for their tour of duty on Tatooine. Congregating in comparatively cosmopolitan spots on Tatooine, such as Mos Eisley, Sandtroopers are unsuccessfully charged with the task of locating and reacquiring the two missing droids R2-D2 and C-3PO. Sandtroopers are often partnered with mountainous Dewbacks, indigenous to the wastes of Tatooine. Dewbacks are omnivorous quadrupedal reptiles, domesticated by the locals and utilized during the Empire’s temporary occupation of Tatooine.
