At its highest and most enviable point, this statue stands at 8.5”. Mounted to a technological pedestal, Princess Leia has been transformed by the magical “Animated-Style” ray into a slinky swimsuit model. Her dress has been recalculated into a snug hourglass bodice with a slit skirt that reveals the delicate contour of her bare leg from hip to polished white go-go boot. Her eyes are larger, noticeably darker, set beneath pixyishly slanted eyebrows. She stands poised, her hip cocked slightly to the side, brandishing her elegant blaster pistol. R2-D2 represents the snap back to reality. He’s standard fare, short and stout with small tanklike treads. Understandably, he’s snuggling close to the piquant and curvaceous Princess, his position aloof and heroic, defending Leia against any pinch-faced Imperial stooges who might be lurking somewhere in the peripheral.
This scene occurred when Leia, oppressed by the Imperial presence, snuck out of sight to upload stalwart R2 with the beseeching hologram message intended for the reclusive Obi-Wan on Tatooine. Of course, Leia couldn’t possibly know that the message would first be intercepted by a credulous, over-eager Luke Skywalker and that an entire three-movie set of events would inevitably fall into motion.
