Discovering and harnessing Pym-particles, Hank Pym manipulated size and mass, which allowed him to develop multiple superhero alter egos, such as Giant-Man. As Giant-Man, Pym can grow to a height of 100 feet, gaining corresponding superhuman strength in the process. In the course of developing a shrinking formula and dosing himself more liberally than intended, Pym is reduced to a tiny speck and is nearly mauled by a squadron of ants, prompting him to construct a special cybernetic helmet which enables him to communicate with the ants and make them into allies.
