The Mjolnir: Hammer of Thor Costume Deluxe Prop Replica is designed to accompany a Thor costume. The Mighty Thor embodied a number of admirable qualities, although the trait he somewhat lacked was humility; subsequently Odin joined Thor’s essence with that of the mortal Donald Blake in the hopes that Thor’s character would continue to bloom. Blake was forced to walk with use of a cane, and could initiate his transformation into Thor by striking the cane against a solid foundation, the cane itself becoming Mjolnir.
Mjolnir’s etched phrase, “Whoever holds the hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of… Thor,” owes to the fact that one must be virtuous enough to lift the hammer. On the rare occasions that such a phenomenon occurs, the warrior question is transformed into a kind of Asgardian manifestation, as in the case of Beta Ray Bill. Mjolnir returns to its wielder after a strike is complete; in once instance, when Thor was ensorcelled by Loki’s accomplice Lorelei, he hurled the hammer into space and took Loki into his grasp, threatening to pulverize Loki’s whole head with the hammer’s return impact. Mjolnir facilitates flight and transdimensional travel. On different occasions Loki has attempted to forge duplicate hammers, all of which are variously potent but ultimately flawed and inferior to the real Mjolnir.
