Classic Venom: Venom is born when Spider-Man’s dejected Black Symbiote bonds with Eddie Brock, who erroneously blames his failed journalistic career on Spider-Man. The Black Symbiote provides Brock with enhanced strength and reflexes similar to those of Spider-Man, along with organic webbing and invisibility to Spider-Man’s spider-sense. The symbiote also reveals Spider-Man’s secret identity to Brock, enabling Venom to attack Spider-Man directly and demoralize Peter Parker.
She-Venom: The ex-wife of Eddie Brock, attorney Ann Weying succeeds in briefly mediating a truce between Spider-Man and Venom. The plan is foiled, however, when Weying is shot by the Sin Eater. The Black Symbiote bonds with Weying to save her life. Weying/She-Venom embarks on a Symbiote-fueled rampage slaughtering men against which she holds grievance. Horrified, Eddie Brock compels the suit to return to him, after Weying is arrested, as part of a failed scheme to ambush and capture Eddie Brock, Brock allows the former to bond with the suit again to escape incarceration.

Flash Thompson as Venom: Flash Thompson is chosen by the government as a new militaristic candidate for the suit. To safeguard against Thompson permanently bonding with the Black Symbiote he wears the suit for intervals no longer than 48 hours; the suit features an additional safeguard enabling the government to terminate Thompson should the latter become possessed by the symbiote. Thompson is outfitted with a gun function which allows the suit to create any handheld firearm Thompson requires.
