Norrin Radd agrees to become the herald of the planet-devouring Galactus as a means of preserving his own (Radd’s) homeworld of Zenn-La. Eventually the Surfer arrives on Earth to herald Galactus’ presence, not unexpectedly develops sympathy for mankind which ultimately causes him to side with the Fantastic Four against Galactus. Galactus agrees to spare Earth, however his displeasure with the Silver Surfer prompts him to partially de-power the Surfer and restrict the Surfer to Earth’s atmosphere, preventing the Surfer from returning to Zenn-La.
