A Diamond Select Release! Sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios! The best-selling Marvel Select line is proud to add another of the Marvel movie franchises to its lineup! This time, the movie Captain America: The First Avenger makes its Marvel Select debut! Based on the likeness of the villainous Red Skull from the upcoming summer 2011 blockbuster, this movie-accurate figure includes Marvel Select's standard 16 points of articulation. As an added bonus, the figure comes packaged with part of a display stand that can be combined with the base from the Captain America movie figure (sold separately) to form a diorama, recreating a key scene from the movie!
Red Skull is clad in his garish black leather. In order to harness the power-imbuing Tesseract, Johann Schmidt ordered Abraham Erskine to treat him (Schmidt) with an imperfect prototypal version of the super soldier serum; Schmidt’s heightened physical prowess enabled him to master the Tesseract, although it resulted in the ghastly disfigurement which earned him the derisive nickname, Red Skull. Red Skull is placed in command of the HYDRA organization, a scientific division which enables him to develop advanced weapons powered by the vast energies of the Tesseract. Ultimately, asserting his dominance by virtue of super weapons, Red Skull embarks on a quest to pulverize the whole of mankind into groveling subservience.
