This version of Iron Man is equipped with a modernized version of the armor. The armor is heavily scalloped and just vaguely crustacean in appearance. Iron Man is depicted in a lift-off position, his boots adjoining red-orange rocket thrusts. Initially Tony Stark was wounded in a Vietnamese jungle and captured by a Communist tyrant. Stark was ordered to build a powerful weapon for his captor but instead took the opportunity to covertly build a rough draft suit of armor that would both sustain Stark’s injury and provide him with the power to escape. Later, Stark improved upon the original design and continued to do so in the process of his career as a superhero.
